With the current state of affairs (the recent pandemic and it’s issues for businesses being heightened by the cost of living crisis), businesses are facing incredibly challenging and stressful times. This is bound to take a toll on the turning wheels of a business- it’s people.

To meet the increasing demand for mental health support, organisations can now seek guidance on managing work-related stress to support both employers and workers thanks to new, updated guidance that Acas have recently published.

Acas’ guidance covers the following:

  • Causes and signs of stress
  • Understanding the law on work-related stress
  • Supporting employees with work-related stress
  • Preventing work-related stress

Francoise Woolley, Head of mental health and wellbeing, provides examples of action points an organisation can take to support staff’s mental health. These include:

  • Encourage open communication
  • Train managers to support staff
  • Provide resources and signpost to wellbeing support
