The Thomas Cook store in Swindon town centre has not opened since the announcement of the company's collapse and a second store in Swindon, located at Shaw, has also been listed as closed. 
 
This new blow to Swinond's retail sector comes after Thomas Cook announced that it had collpased after failing to acquire the £200m it needed to remain in business. Questions are now being asked about the large amounts paid to directors in recent years.
 
With Swindon stores shut, it is not yet known how many jobs have been lost in the town but it is estimated that the 9,000 jobs in the UK have been put at risk as a result of the collapse the collapse.
