Lucy Rouse, a former PR and communications officer for Wiltshire Creative and Salisbury Playhouse, has launched her own business, Lucecannon PR.

Lucy – a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations – has been working as a communications and PR professional for the past eight years in the arts sector in Salisbury.

Prior to that, Lucy was a journalist for 20 years writing for national newspapers and working on a number of media titles. She was the first female editor of Broadcast magazine, the leading publication for the TV production industry, from 1999 until 2002.

Lucy diversified into communications in 2012, working for Salisbury International Arts Festival, Salisbury Arts Centre and Salisbury Playhouse. Salisbury Festival drew attendances of 40,000 to 50,000 people every year and Salisbury Playhouse entertained audiences of 95,000 throughout a typical year. The three organisations merged in 2018 to form Wiltshire Creative and Lucy ran their press office until September 2020.

Lucy said, “Launching a new business at the start of 2021 is at once exhilarating and of course a little daunting. What is clear, however, through the digital networking and collaboration that has marked this period, is that there are lots of committed and experienced businesspeople coming up with new and fascinating creative ideas. I’m looking forward to working with many of these brilliant new businesses and to continuing to contribute to my lifelong passion for the media industry. Despite coronavirus and the current lockdown, the future looks rosy for Lucecannon PR.”

Lucecannon PR is working with local businesses in Wiltshire and surrounding counties, while also supporting London-based agencies including Mushroom Media, which has a number of domestic and international TV clients.
