BSI have created PAS 440:2020 Responsible Innovation – Guide. This new guide provides comprehensive direction for companies on best practice for innovators. We consider responsible innovation to be so important that this PAS is being made available as a free download.

The PAS will help you think through the wider implications of your innovation, capture the outcomes of your reflections, and communicate this to stakeholders. 

Who is this guide for?

It’s written for any company that’s taking new products, services or process to market and has been designed to be useful to organisations with all levels of resource availability.

This new document provides guidance for companies that want to innovate responsibly and to demonstrate responsible behaviour. 

Guidance throughout the process

This guidance is best adopted during the early stages of the innovation process, and is particularly suitable for disruptive technologies, although it can be applied anywhere. PAS 440:2020 will:

• guide company thinking in respect of innovation and actions
• help identify and mitigate risks before they become an issue
• accelerate innovation and develop expertise
• help reassure investors, customers and other stakeholders that the benefits of any innovation can be achieved
PAS 440:2020 can also help organisations achieve UN Sustainable Development Goal 9 and Goal 12 by supporting thoughtful and non-wasteful innovation.
