Pfizer vaccine to be made in Swindon
Deal announced with Thermo Fisher.
The Thermo Fisher Scientific facility in Swindon will become the first in the UK location to produce the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine.
The deal is set to bring £70m of investment - mainly around the expansion of production lines and the installation of ultra-cold storage - and will create 200 jobs to Swindon.
The vaccine will be produced at the Thermo Fisher Scientific site on Kingfisher Drive – marking the first time that the vaccine will be made or bottled in the UK. Production is expected to begin in early next year.
