One freezing morning in 2010, Emma Lawton was preparing the feed for her horse. As every horse owner and rider will know, cutting through the compacted and congealed food on mornings like this is painful – traditional horse feed scoops don’t cut through it and the only solution is to remove your gloves and use your bare hands. On that bitterly cold morning all those years ago, Emma thought, “I wish I had a scoop with teeth.”

The idea stayed at the back of Emma’s mind, and in 2013 she decided to turn it into reality. In 2015 Emma launched the SKŪP® – a feed scoop with teeth designed especially for horses. The development of the SKŪP® has been an exciting voyage of discovery for Emma culminating in HŪF® Design being selected to be one of the Small Business Saturday Small Biz 100.
