As a Can Do performance coach, I absolutely love working with small business owners, who want to discover and identify ways to perform better in life and business. People who want to excel in their businesses and develop a Can Do attitude to life and business.
It’s about enabling you to work at your personal best.
Let’s talk about 3 tips to help you make 2018 your best year in business. Before you head into a new year in business, think about your 2017.
In November each year, I encourage my clients to review, consider and plan what they would like to achieve the following year. Remember, remember your business in November, is a mantra I created a few years ago to help you say `Why wait until January to set new goals and plans?’ Get a head start and nail your thinking about what you can do now.
Is it time to shift your thinking and rid the behaviour that has held you back?
Think about:
- What you have learned
- What you have achieved
- Your client experiences
- Your challenges and successes
- The work you’ve delivered
- What hasn’t gone well
- What have you not enjoyed doing
- What would you like to do more of, or less of, going forward
- Who do you need to connect with to stretch your opportunities
- What will it take for you to make 2018 your best year in business
Here are my top 3 tips to enable your growth and success:
Tip 1. Be Brave
Your comfort zone is a place I encourage you to step away from. How do you describe your comfort zone? Is it cozy, safe, and secure? Do you like to wrap your comfort zone around you like your favourite duvet? You’re warm and you want to hold onto that feeling.
In your state of coziness, what happens in your business? Same, lots or nothing new? How are you stretching yourself toward new opportunities? Are you winning new clients? Are you talking to new people to even lead to prospective new clients working with you?
What will it take to throw off your duvet, get cold and step into a zone of discomfort?
Hang on a minute, why do you want to be uncomfortable? Why can’t you stay in this zone of security, this safe place you know well?
It’s amazing what occurs in your zone of discomfort. Magic happens. You become brave. Take a step. Take a leap of faith. Have the courage and conviction in yourself to step into your magic zone.
Think for a moment, about a time in your life or business, where you had to be brave. How did you perform your brave act? Was it your first 60 second pitch at a networking event? Taking a step to stand up and talk about you and your business, shows courage.
Tip 2. Be Bold.
As a business, how are you remembered by your clients, colleagues and friends? How do stand out from the crowd?
Seth Godin’s book, The Purple Cow: Transform your Business by Being Remarkable, he talks about ways you can create a memorable experience for your prospective and existing audience. When you capture attention in a unique and remarkable way, your give your audience a chance to remark about you.
What will it take for you to stand out and be remarkable?
Focus on building bold steps into your 2018 planning. Step up and shake off your fears. Be bold and fearless and say: ‘I’m going to make ME happen in 2018’. Imagine what you can achieve with bold actions – talk to more clients, take on staff or increase your profits.
Tip 3. Believe in YOU.
I’m a huge fan of tennis, both watching and playing. Over many years I’ve watched countless matches. What I’ve learnt is that players at the top of their game, who win time and time again, share one key attribute: self belief. These players practice repeatedly, improve their skills and performance, and develop a strong growth or Can Do mindset.
It is self-belief that enables each one to achieve winning results and personal success.
People with positive self-belief are those who see options and opportunity as a way forward. These individuals face and win through challenges and setback, mistakes and failures. Self-belief is about digging deep and shifting your focus away from limiting beliefs that prevent you from taking those extra steps forward.
