The AQAP contains a list of proposed measures and actions that will be taken to improve air quality, and specifically the reduction in levels of nitrogen dioxide, in 8 areas where levels have been found to be excessive. The SPD seeks to improve air quality in Wiltshire by seeking good base design for all developments and requiring additional mitigation/design measures for higher risk developments; in particular those developments that have the potential to worsen the air quality in areas that are already suffering with poor air quality (known as Air Quality Management Areas). This risk based approach is consistent with the aims and objectives of Wiltshire’s Air Quality Action Plan and Air Quality Strategy.
The consultation will run for six weeks, from 24 July to 4 September and Wiltshire Council would like to hear your views. A hard copy of the draft AQAP has been made available at the following libraries: Marlborough, Bradford on Avon, Calne, Westbury, Devizes and Salisbury.
A summary of responses will be made following the consultation period. These responses will be fully considered and, if appropriate, changes will be made to the draft AQAP to produce a final version prior to its adoption by the council.
