This award acknowledges successful partnerships between government and private sector entities in ICT. The judges were particularly impressed with Chipside’s work digitising local authorities’ parking through its MiPermit app. Chipside has partnerships with more than half of all local councils in the United Kingdom, including iconic cities such as Bath and Cardiff.
The WITSA award winners are nominated by ICT experts globally and judged on their ability to use resources and expertise to successfully deliver digital transformation to public infrastructure, as well as affecting technological advancements in local transportation services.
WITSA is a consortium of ICT industry associations from more than 80 countries around the world, representing more than 90 percent of the global ICT industry.
Chipside was nominated for the WITSA award by techUK. TechUK represents UK companies that are deploying digital technologies to transform the world we live in. Around 850 companies are members of techUK. Collectively they employ approximately 700,000 people, about half of all tech sector jobs in the UK. These companies range from leading FTSE 100 companies to new innovative start-ups. The majority of techUK members are small and medium-sized businesses.
Simon Spier, head of international trade at techUK, , says:
“Chipside is an example of a UK company that has used digital technology to transform an industry – in this case parking services for local councils – from an old fashioned paper-based system, to a modern, digital first solution. Chipside is a great example of “best of British” technology and we are proud that their nomination has resulted in this award.”
Chipside CEO, Paul Moorby OBE, says:
“Receiving this award is recognition for the hard work and results we have delivered for local authorities across the UK. Our technology provides the opportunity to improve traffic flow in towns and cities, and better manage and define parking and permit guideline – reducing costs and offering the public an improved parking experience.”
The WITSA award is the most recent recognition for Chipside after winning a Queen’s Award for Enterprise: Innovation 2019 and being nominated for Technology Business of the Year in the British Business Awards.
