The Culture Recovery Fund for Independent Cinemas is supporting England’s commercial and non-profit cinemas to transition back to a viable and sustainable operating model, following the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
This second round of funding looks forward to spring and early summer when it is expected that cultural organisations will be able to operate with fewer restrictions.
Round two, which has a total of £14 million available, is open to new applicants as well as those that applied to round one.
The Fund will provide Business Sustainability Grants, expected to be from £10,000 to £200,000 per cinema site, with an upper limit of £1 million for a commercial for-profit organisations with multiple cinema sites, and £3 million for not-for-profit organisations.
Awards will be cumulative across both rounds, including the cap of £1 million of grant funding for commercial organisations.
Awards will cover eligible costs from 1 April 2021 to 30 June 2021 in order to help successful applicants operate on a viable and sustainable basis by 30 June 2021.
Funding will be directed at building-based venues that provide a year-round film programme full time with a minimum of five screenings weekly and operational for at least 12 months before March 2020.
The deadline for applications to this second round of funding is 1 February 2021 (12:00 GMT).
