A data centre in Swindon has become one of the first in the UK to be fully carbon neutral.

Carbon-Z management has made eco-friendly changes to the site and its work practices, including the submersion of all hardware components in cooling liquid, sourcing electricity from green energy providers, and is planning to install solar panels on the roof.

The company used to be known as SilverEdge and rebranded to reflect its focus on cutting carbon emissions. It now hopes to inspire a wider shift towards sustainability within the data centre industry, which accounts for more greenhouse gas emissions annually than commercial flights.
