The
Wiltshire-based James Dyson Award Global winner for this year has been named as
SmartHeal.
This is a smart
sensor for dressings which indicates how well a wound is healing by measuring
its pH level, invented by students from Warsaw University of Technology.
“A total of 28 per cent of outpatients over 70 with chronic wounds die due to complications associated with them. Assessment of wound healing stage and detection of inflammation is crucial to determine best treatment. SmartHeal is an affordable solution that can help save lives,” Dyson said.
