
Urban Innovative Actions (UIA) is an initiative of the European Commission that provides urban areas throughout Europe with resources to test new and unproven solutions to address urban challenges. The Initiative has a total budget of around €372 million of ERDF, of which a budget of approximately €50 million has been allocated for the Fifth Call for Proposals.
Successful projects can receive up to €5 million co-financing for up to 80% of the eligible costs.
Applications are accepted from:
Individual urban authorities of an area defined as a city, town or suburb comprising at least 50,000 inhabitants. An association or grouping of urban authorities of an area defined as a city, town or suburb, including cross-border associations or groupings, associations or groupings in different regions and/or Member States, where the total population is at least 50,000 inhabitants.
For the Fifth Call for Proposals, applications are invited for proposals addressing the following topics:
- Air quality.
- Culture and cultural heritage.
- Circular economy.
- Demographic change.
All Urban Authorities must be located in an EU Member State and project implementation must take place within a maximum period of three years.
