Filmmakers with a
background in Hollywood want to turn a 55,000 sq ft hangar at Wroughton
Airfield airfield into a sound stage studio.
Director Sean
Robinson has joined forces with producer Tyrone Edwards to form Dignus Films
and the new company has applied to Swindon Borough Council to
transform the building into a centre of film production. They say ten
feature-length films would be shot there over the course of 12 years.
The hangar is
approved for storage purposes and owned by the Science Museum, which is a joint
applicant with Dignus Films and agrees there is no realistic prospect of the
hangar being used for storage. Call 01793 463000.
