Innovative businesses, start-ups and aspiring entrepreneurs across the UK are being encouraged to apply for the TBAT Innovation Challenge 2026, a competition designed to support the development and growth of technology-led innovations.

Now open for applications, the challenge combines expert-led workshops, networking opportunities and the chance to secure funding and tailored business support to help bring new ideas to market.

Delivered in partnership with a network of innovation support organisations, the programme begins with a series of free workshops aimed at helping businesses strengthen their innovation plans, understand available support and prepare for the competition stage. The sessions are open to businesses developing technology-based products or services across a range of sectors.

Following the workshops, participants will have the opportunity to enter the Innovation Challenge competition. Selected finalists will be invited to pitch their ideas live at a Finalist Showcase, where they will compete for a share of funding and business support packages.

£60,000 in Cash Prizes Available

The overall winner will receive a £50,000 cash award to invest directly into research and development activities, providing a significant boost for businesses looking to accelerate innovation and commercial growth.

Two runner-up businesses will each receive £5,000 to support business development and operational costs.

In addition, the competition includes a Rising Star Award, aimed at recognising emerging entrepreneurial talent. The recipient will receive £1,000 in cash alongside a package of support from the Innovation Challenge partner network.

Who Can Apply?

The Innovation Challenge is open to:

  • UK businesses that are three years old or younger
  • Individuals planning to launch a business in the UK
  • Established UK businesses over three years old that are undertaking research and development or planning to introduce new technology

Applicants must be able to demonstrate innovation and be developing a technology-based product or service.
