Follows expert advice from Historic England
A roadmap which sets out how Swindon’s Mechanics’ Institute could be brought back into use will be discussed by Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet this week. The historic building, which has never been owned by the Council, was once a hive of activity during the height of the Railway Works. But due to its poor condition, it will take tens of millions of pounds and years to bring it back into use.
However, a new plan, which has been shaped using expert advice from Historic England, will be presented to the Council’s Cabinet and sets out some key steps to begin the process. Call 01793 463000
