Work is underway to
install the first of four ground-mounted solar arrays at different Ministry of
Defence barracks on sites developed by Swindon-based Public Power Solutions.
The first
installation to be installed is a 2.3MW solar array at Leconfield Barracks,
Beverley, East Yorkshire and the other three projects include 1.4 MW at Duke of
Gloucester Barracks, near Cirencester.
PPS has worked with
the Army’s delivery partner, the Defence Infrastructure Organisation, carrying
out all the project development work. Named Project Prometheus, it will
increase renewable energy across the defence estate. Together, the four pilot
sites will result in £1m in efficiency savings.
