Public Power
Solutions, a wholly-owned company of Swindon Borough Council, and Still Waters
Green Technology, a leading independent battery energy storage system asset
manager, have announced the next phase of their flagship 30MW utility-scale,
subsidy-free energy storage project.
The project, which is
on land leased from Swindon Borough Council, is designed to have a 30-year
lifespan and will offer a substantial land income for the council.
This scheme will
provide up to 65GWh of annual import and export energy capacity to the national
grid and connecting large batteries to the National Grid helps to smooth out
the peaks and troughs which occur in power demand, and match them better with
variable supply.
