With the summer passing and many of us
opting to do staycations, we find
ourselves in a familiar scenario as the year comes to a close. This time rather than a national
lockdown there are now multiple tiers across the regions. I believe
everyone has suffered some form of hardship this year be it at a
personal or business level, yet the spirit and warmth that I have
witnessed has been wonderful to behold. Communities and strangers coming
together to help others, including our own fund raising for Covid supplies.
Due to your help we were able support multiple communities and continue
to do so.
There has been a huge amount of planning behind the scenes, often trying to find scarce supplies with certain companies clearly trying to profiteer on their pricing but there were other companies who remained honest and true helping when it mattered most. The volumes of hand sanitiser were often made in the early hours of the morning, ready to be delivered to the shops and businesses as soon as their doors opened. But behind the scenes there were a very special group of ladies who went above and beyond. They manned the hand sanitiser stations and did local home deliveries to those shielding. Without the help of Zoe, Jules, Sasha, and Susie a lot of what was achieved by the distillery would not have been possible. For the work that was conducted during this period the UK Spirits Alliance have awarded Downton Distillery the ‘Community Spirits Award Champion’ trophy.
Thank you to you all for your support, sadly we will be unable to see you at the Christmas markets this year, but you will still be able to find us online.
