BCS welcomes analysis of Huawei role

Calls for more evidence on information assurance
By Lorne Barling,

BCS, the Swindon-based Chartered Institute for IT, has welcomed the recent Government decision to allow but restrict Huawei's involvement in UK telecoms work.

“We welcome the National Cyber Security Centre analysis for the UK telecoms sector that seems to follow a best practice, risk-based assessment and provision of guidance as well as giving examples of what the IT profession should be doing to best mitigate risk,” said Dr Bill Mitchell,” director of policy at BCS.

But he added: “We need more evidence to understand what this will mean for IT practitioners and we will be listening closely to BCS members, particularly those working in information assurance.”
