Support and funding for your business

​Introduction to the Swindon & Wiltshire LEP Programmes

SWLEP programmes are designed to support the Swindon and Wiltshire local infrastructure and generate economic growth. The programmes are funded by Central Government or European Funding, secured through competitive bids. Programmes are primarily delivered by the local Unitary Authorities, Swindon Borough Council and Wiltshire Council.

Higher Futures Skills Hub

Higher Futures works with businesses to up-skill employees with local, bespoke training solutions created in partnership with nationally based university level providers.

The Enterprise Network

TEN supports small and start-up businesses, offering hot desks and co-working spaces well as free advice and information about available business grants.


Designed for SMEs with a sustainable business model looking to grow, the i2s intensive coaching programme helps to create a culture of innovation and overcome barriers to growth.

Enterprise Adviser Network

The Swindon and Wiltshire Enterprise Adviser Network helps to create powerful, lasting connections between local businesses and the schools and colleges in our LEP area.

SME Growth

The SME Growth Project provides 12 hours of intensive business support to ensure that you have the skills and knowledge to successfully grow and develop your business.

The Scale-up Hub

A local business 'GP' service dedicated to working with fast growing Businesses, we are committed to impartially connecting you to the right support, when and where it’s needed.

Health & Life-Sciences Hub

The Swindon and Wiltshire Health and Life Science Innovation Hub provides innovation support directly to businesses in the health and life science sector across the Swindon and Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership area.

Better Business for All (BBfA)

Better Business for All (BBfA) is a national government initiative that brings together businesses and regulators in partnership to improve how local regulation is delivered, easing the burden on business and reducing regulatory barriers to growth.


The Swindon and Wiltshire CSR Hub has been created for social ventures in the area to promote the services and support they offer to local business. It also carries the information, advice and guidance available to start, run or grow a social venture.

Serco SSW

Skills Support for the Workforce (SSW) is a programme developed to upskill employees within SMEs in Swindon & Wiltshire, providing accredited qualifications and bespoke training courses for your employees.

LEADER Rural Development Programme Grants

Six LEADER Local Action Groups (LAGs) cover all the rural areas of Swindon and Wiltshire, making grant funding available to all types of rurally-based businesses


SWLEP's ESIF programme will invest to help businesses compete and grow, and improve people's skills and employment prospects.

SWLEP The Rural Economy Sector Group (RESG)

The Rural Economy Sector Group (RESG) provides a forum for rural businesses, the public and voluntary sectors to come together to identify the barriers and create the strategic support necessary for economic growth.


GPIF is a capital only fund used to invest in infrastructure projects that deliver sustainable economic growth within the Swindon and Wiltshire area. It is a repayable loan to support projects that will create new jobs and/or deliver new homes.

Local Growth Fund

'Growth Deals’ are funds provided by the government to LEPs in response to their bids for investment that could help unlock growth and development within a local economy.

South West Loans Fund

Operating for more than 25 years, SWIG Finance is a not-for-profit organisation delivering loan finance across the South West region to small and medium sized enterprises which cannot access sufficient funding from the banks

Rural Growth Programme Grants

Swindon and Wiltshire LEP have £3.9 million of Rural Growth funding available for small and medium-sized businesses in our rural areas. Grants from £35,000 – approximately £200,000 are available to support businesses wanting to invest

Porton Science Park (PSP)

Newly built, Porton Science Park (PSP) is a brand new and exciting state-of-the-art laboratory and office complex located on over 10 hectares at the Porton Down Science Campus

Swindon & Wiltshire Initiative

Established in 2010, the Swindon & Wiltshire Initiative grew out of the long established Great Western Enterprises (GWE). It is a local business leadership and campaign group, which aims to promote the area’s status as one of the leading regional economies in the UK.

Be Involved

Be Involved is a Swindon & Wiltshire initiative enabling employers to support the employability of our young people and the future workforce by pledging to activities such as supporting local schools, supporting those with significant barriers to work, offering apprenticeships, traineeships and supported internships.

Wiltshire Council's Employment & Skills Service, providing information to employers via the Routes to Employment and Skills for Young people teams.

Support for Women in Business

The Enterprise Network (TEN) supports women in business across Swindon and Wiltshire through monthly network meetings, information sessions and an annual women in business conference.

Federation of Small Business (Wiltshire and Swindon area)

The Federation of Small Business (FSB) is a not-for-profit organisation, led by a team of our members, which exists to serve the small business community across the UK. Their mission is to help smaller businesses achieve their ambitions.

Enterprise Europe Network

The Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) connects innovators with manufacturers, distributors, co-developers and suppliers overseas.

Swindon Borough Council - Programmes/Services

Swindon Borough Council offers a wide range of support to establish and grow your business, including access to advice and support from regulatory services, news about the latest transport changes, Growth and Regeneration and Swindon's primary strategies for the future of the town.

Social Enterprise Network

The Enterprise Network (TEN) coordinates a network of people and organisations interested or involved in social enterprise in Swindon and Wiltshire. A quarterly meeting brings people together to hear guest speakers and successful social enterprises.

Business West Enterprise Services

A not-for-profit company with 200 staff and a turn over of £10 million, Business West Enterprise Services aims to make the area the best place to live and work. They have helped 21,000 businesses to start and grow as well as lobby government on their behalf. Profits are reinvested back into the business in order to achieve their mission.

Links to Work

Links to Work is an ESF, DWP funded programme run by Working Links. The programme is designed to provide unemployed people across Swindon and Wiltshire with the skills needed to enter sustainable employment. Working Links works with local employers to help them recruit the right people for the right jobs.
