Melksham Plastics Firm Powers Ahead with Solar Investment

Plastic Engineering Solutions in Melksham has invested in a solar-powered facility with support from Lloyds Bank to reduce its carbon footprint and support future business growth.

A Wiltshire-based manufacturer is making significant strides towards sustainability with a major investment in renewable energy.

Plastic Engineering Solutions (PES), a specialist in injection moulding, has secured £500,000 in funding from Lloyds Bank to purchase a new facility on Bowerhill Industrial Estate in Melksham. The building is equipped with 130 solar panels, forming a key part of the company’s strategy to reduce its carbon footprint.

The 55kW solar energy system is expected to generate approximately 45,000kWh of electricity each year—enough to meet nearly 10% of the business’s total energy consumption. This investment not only supports PES’s environmental goals but also enhances its energy efficiency and operational resilience.

The acquisition also sets the stage for future growth, with plans in place to create up to 40 new jobs as the business expands.

This development reflects Wiltshire’s wider commitment to supporting local businesses in their transition to low-carbon operations. By adopting clean energy technologies, companies like PES are helping to drive sustainable economic growth across the region.
