Wiltshire Council is committed to supporting local companies who want to do business with us, particularly small and medium size enterprises. Engaging with local businesses is a key priority for Wiltshire Council as we focus on increasing local spend, creating business diversity, and ensuring we engage with businesses that support our Carbon Neutrality goals and prioritise social value.
If you are a Wiltshire-based business that could provide goods and services to Wiltshire Council, we would like you to meet our Procurement team and find out more about opportunities on your doorstep. We buy goods, works, and services from a wide range of providers. We award contracts to organisations that can meet our requirements and standards. Contracts can range from small, one-off purchases up to multi-million-pound contracts lasting several years.
Tendering in the public sector is more straightforward that you might think, however, we appreciate that our world of procurement is not yours! This workshop will de-mystify the process and provide top tips for tendering. We will explain to businesses including suppliers of goods, works, or services how the council procures what it needs, allowing local businesses to get greater access to sell their goods, works, and services and encouraging businesses to bid for our contracts.
Come along and learn how to win work from the council and its partners.

Is this the event for you?
Our target audience are Wiltshire’s SME businesses (0 to 250 employees), across all sectors, particularly businesses who have not yet worked with Wiltshire Council or delivered any service or supplies to the local authority…but would like to if they are eligible and able. The key objectives are to de-mystify the procurement process and break down barriers, enabling SME’s to successfully engage with the council and encouraging them to bid. The outcome we’re aiming for is more Wiltshire SME’s bidding successfully for WC contracts.
The session will include:-
- An introduction to Wiltshire Council’s Procurement Team
- Information about the procurement pipeline - What opportunities are available?
- How to find information about opportunities and navigate the ‘Supplying The South West’ portal
- What tendering looks like at the Council
- What would make it easier for you to access contract opportunities at the Council?
- …and more
