2019 Heathrow Centre of Excellence Sustainability Innovation Prize

We don’t have all the answers, but we do have an airport! Working together we can pilot your idea to help you get it off the ground and, we hope, help us make progress in one of our sustainability challenge areas.

We encourage organisations of any size to apply for the £30,000 prize with your ideas, particularly with product or service innovations that are ready (or nearly ready) for market and looking for somewhere to be trialled.

WHAT CHALLENGE CAN YOU APPLYING FOR?

1. Travelling to the airport carbon-free: How to encourage more people to avoid single occupancy car journeys and choose more sustainable alternatives. We are seeking solutions to sustainable surface travel to the airport
2. Getting ready for sustainable propulsion: Anticipating the needs of the future generations of more sustainable aircraft. How do we enable the necessary innovation to flourish? We are seeking solutions which to help prepare the airport for fossil-free flight.
3. Negative emissions at or near the airport: The challenge is how to start capturing carbon in and around the airport operation – such as into useful resources such as materials. We are seeking solutions for carbon capture and use at the airport.
