Salisbury City Council has been nominated as a finalist for the  Council of the Year Award 2019 from the National Association of Local Councils (NALC).

NALC’s Star Council Awards are the only awards which recognise the achievements of the local (parish and town) council sector. The awards celebrate the positive impact that councils, county associations, councillors and clerks have on their communities.

The Council is one of three finalists for the award which recognises the achievements of the local (parish and town) council sector. The award celebrates the positive impact the councils have on their communities.

The winner is chosen by the public who vote for their favourite finalist to win the Council of the Year Award.

Leader of the Council, Cllr Jeremy Nettle said, “I am delighted to hear that the City Council has been shortlisted for this National award. The City, residents and businesses had an extremely tough time in 2018 but it has to be said that I have been amazed at how many different groups and individuals have come together to support the Salisbury recovery. Over the last year Councillors and officers pulled together to not only show that Salisbury was operating as business as usual but we introduced a number of initiatives to make the City attractive, through our focus on street cleaning, upgrading the Shopmobility and events for our residents and visitors. I hope that as many people as possible vote for the Council to reflect the hard work that everyone has put in over the past year”.
