The Swindon Designer Outlet - developed by McArthur Glen more than 20 years ago - is reported to have been put up for sale by its owners since 2008, investment company Nuveen.

It is understood that agents Morgan Williams have been appointed to sell the Swindon site and also the Cheshire Oaks outlet for a total price of around £600m for both assets.

The Outlet centre has been one of the most successful retail centres in an otherwise bleak picture in Swindon, where a large number of independent and national chain stores have closed over a long period.
