Expansion of our Growth Hub service means we’re recruiting an experienced Skills Adviser professional to join our team.
The Skills Adviser will be proactive in supporting the SWLEP wider skills plan by promoting and raising the profile of Higher Education and other work-based learning to drive skills improvement in businesses within Swindon and Wiltshire and to provide support to local businesses and team members on learning, skills and workforce development related issues. You will actively champion apprenticeships as a productive way to develop skills within the workforce.
You will be providing support primarily by telephone and digitally. In addition to strong verbal communication and presentation skills for webinars, you will also have excellent written English in order to be able to provide succinct signposting by email and to write engaging and informative learning skills related content for our website. You will have a positive “can do” attitude and a passion for enabling businesses to thrive.
Your knowledge and experience of the UK Higher Education system and other work-based learning such as apprenticeships, vocational courses and short courses - perhaps gained through your own experience of working in a skills-based environment, combined with solid experience in a business support role - will help you to promote and provide access to higher level learning and other work-based learning for local businesses workforce. You will be committed to your own professional development to learn new skills for the role.
Subject matter knowledge of UK funding models for HEIs and FE Colleges, apprenticeships , vocational and short courses would be advantageous in terms of being able to provide information and support to businesses on education and skills.
It is essential for the Skills Adviser to track every interaction with businesses using our CRM tool to enable us to claim funding and report on the impact of the support provided. Therefore, strong IT skills, familiarity with using databases and being able to follow repetitive processes with a high degree of accuracy will be key.
In the early stages of the role, you will be required to work from home due to the Covid-19 situation. As things start to get back to normal, you will be mainly based from the Digital Mansion in Corsham, with an element of homeworking and some occasional travel within Swindon and Wiltshire to attend meetings and events, the pattern of which is to be determined but expected to be minimal.
